2018 – 61 – knee
I can’t seem to catgh a break…
A few days after my 50th birthday…I woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee; I sat up and put my legs over the side of the bed (so far, so good); I went to stand up but my legs didn’t seem to get the message and down I went like baker’s dough. Fortunately, I didn’t bang my head on the hard floor, metal pipes, metal bed frame or steel sink block/toilet. I did, however, land on my left side, twisting my knee, which also gave a rather loud tearing sound. The drama wasn’t over…
I then had to gingerly pull myself to my feet before sitting on the toilet. I was there about 5 minutes as the pain and shock set off a response (I can’t recall what the doctor called it) which made me cold, clammy, tremble and sweat profusely. “This isn’t right,” I thought to myself. Eventually, I got myself back on the bed; but, this response went on for another 10 minutes or more. It was worrying to say the least.
I had to get signed off work and spent the next week or so hobbling and limping about the wing. Even now, more than 2 months later, my knee is still not quite right.
I know this will cause some mirth in certain quarters but have a heart…I’m an old man now!
Be happy, be safe.
