2020 – 01 – Christmas & New Year
Christmas & New Year: bleurgh!
Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish! Yeh, sure, I could make an effort but Christmas, for me, is all about being around the ones you love. I’m not looking for a surrogate family to share this special time of year. It probably doesn’t help that I’m writing this whilst under the weather.
The one highlight was the ‘Gone Wrong Show’. That first episode had me laughing until I couldn’t breath and tears ran down my cheeks. I was laughing so hard that I started coughing and then came close to throwing up! When that ‘snowman’ got pulled into the toy machine mangle… oh, my, gosh. Was that not the funniest thing all year.
What of 2020? Well, if we’re not dragged into a war with Iran and the Earth is not laid waste by wildfires and tsunamis, I feel that this will be a year where my life will change so much for the better. My transfer should happen, my CCRC application should be submitted – the end of the road is in sight.
I want to thank everyone connected with this site – the people involved in the design and maintenance, and the people who type up and post my blogs. In particular, I want to thank you, the readers, for visiting. I know from the stats that we get thousands of visits each year and that a high percentage of those visits are from regulars. When I started this blog. in 20`4, I didn’t expect to be still in prison let alone going into the 7th year of blogging.
There have been periods where my head and heart have not been into sitting at this typewriter rehashing rather depressing and repetitive issues but knowing you guys keep coming back tells me I’m not wasting my time. I wish I knew more about who you all are and why this site is of interest but I understand that most people prefer to observe rather than engage in any form of dialogue. Nonetheless, if you did want to have a conversation you could leave a comment on the site or contact me directly by snail mail or via ‘Email a Prisoner’. It would be nice to speak to people whose conversation is something more than moaning about prison, football, how many ‘keys’ you benchpress or the latest reality TV.
Alternatively, you could send me a postcard or card with a message of support. One date for your diary: 23rd April 2020 – my birthday!
Be happy, be safe and be kind.
