2019 – 56 – library
I last blogged about this last year (2018-7 & 2018-14) – this is long overdue. After applying for a second time – although, I nearly didn’t – I got the job in the library. I think this was more to do with having only 2 applicants (who made it to the interview stage) for the 2 positions. I got the job by default(!) I’ve been there for since 4th June 2018 – over 16 months, now.
It’s, without doubt, the best job I’ve had in prison. We have a small team who (generally) get on with the work and make for a pleasant working environment. It’s not been without issues, though – not everyone is as easy to get along with as I am; in fact, I was right when I blogged about this last year – I do have a reputation as being ‘difficult.’ I suspect this comes from certain staff who have created situations which I have challenged. I am often misunderstood.
Happily, within a very short space of time, I confounded those expectations. I’ve even got a nickname – ‘Google’- supposedly because I am a mine of information – nothing could be further from the truth: the only thing I know is that I know nothing (thanks, Aristotle).
Be happy, be safe and kind.
