Cervical Stenosis

Hello friend,

Longer term readers of my blog might remember 2017 98-mri and 2018-56-stenosis (check it out). To cut a long story short: the diaganosis a that time was one of cervical stenosis; specifically, the C5 and C6 vertebra in my neck. At that time, my only symptom was some numbness in my right hand… oh, how things have progressed.

If you are someone who reads the dates at the bottom of my blogs (the date I type them up), you will have noticed how irregular they have become (apart from the previous four – I’m trying to force myself back into some sort of consistency); it’s because I have been so unwell. Over the last 6 months I’ve had pain, dizziness, nausea, chronic fatigue (even talking and keeping my eyes open have proved too energy sapping at times) and muscular weakness (to name but a few symptoms).

I will detail the battle I have had just to get an appointment with a Doctor in here (about 6 months) at a later date; but, I have finally been referred for an urgent MRI. It remains to be seen whether this prison’s delay in providing the most basic medical care (a Dr’s appointment) will lead to any permanent nerve damage or even paralysis.

When I last saw the neurologist (in 2017) he described the potential operation: YIKES!!! It is like some form of early medieval torture… drilling and stuff. He clearly only wanted to proceed as a last resort as the risks included post-op difficulty in swallowing, paralysis and.. death!
So if my blogs suddenly stop…

Be happy, be safe.
