Since my last blog (no.19), I informed HMP Wakefield’s Healthcare department that I registered as an organ donor and my wishes in the event of my death. They replied telling me that prisoners could nt be organ donors due to ‘ethical reasons’; quite what they are I do not know. I certainly think it would be more unethical to let someone die rather than use the organ of a prisoner who had given their consent. I need to ask more questions.
I’ve also written to the local ‘living donor’ transplant centre. It’s now been about 6 weeks with no reply. What has a guy got to do around here to give away his organs?!
Be happy, be safe.
