Fist bumps! I cannot stand fist bumps. Are we so insecure that we have to follow every fad which comes from another American sub-culture.
A few days ago, I was in the dinner queue (again) where a guy, whom I have never spoken to, put out his fist. I said: “I don’t do that.” He then went into this whole thing about a mark of respect and that I had a lot to learn; true. I very much subscribe to the Socrates school of: “I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance.”
He then held out his hand, ostensibly for me to shake; however, when I did, he hurriedly withdrew it and started banging on about germs, and not knowing where people’s hands had been. Mmm… I could’ve sworn he said something about “respect”.
Fist bumps should not be undertaken by anyone over the age of fourteen.
Be happy, be safe.
