My recent epiphany (blog: 156) has led me to reassess how I spend my time. I’ve realised that I could have achieved so much more than I have over the past (nearly) 15 years. To that end…
I’ve set myself a number of goals for next year. The first one is that I’m going to write a screenplay. I don’t want to give too much away at this stage other than to say it will be based on a true story; with a certain amount of dramatic licence. “Are you crazy?”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” “Who is this joker?” Alright, I’m not proposing to become fluent in all or any of the languages; just enough for basic communication. They say that we only use around 500-1500 words in an active vocabulary; 10 languages x 500 words is only 5000 words. In fact, it’s even less as some languages use the same words; even the same English words. Plus, I’m only learning European languages; so no oriental pictograms to learn. I’m using the ‘baby method’ (my name for it) of learning phonetically; no need to learn spelling at this stage. Wish me luck.
Now all I’ve got to do is not getting drawn into battling with the system; perhaps the hardest challenge of all.
Be happy, be safe.
